Ironman

I saw Ironman twice in the theatre and there's something I still just don't get.

He can make an Arc Reactor in a cave, he can make the amazing Ironman suits, he's a bazillionare with access to all manners of high technology yet he can't have some simple open-heart surgery to get the shrapnel out of his heart?

One of my friends had open-heart surgery last year. Literally, his lungs were outside of his chest, while his life was kept going by machines while he heart was cut open and repaired. Can't something like this be done with Tony Stark? How hard can it be? Or am I just missing something? I don't get why his life was slowly failing when he didn't have an Arc Reactor in his chest at one point in the film. What was happening to his heart then? Can't he just call a heart surgeon and get it fixed? Doesn't he know about stem cells?

You have a point there, that does seem like a weak point in the story. Maybe Iron Man fans could enlighten us on this point. That said I really liked this movie! Can't wait to get it on DVD.
