A friend of mine ran across this copyright protection warning on a DVD the other day.
They are blatantly lying.
It's against the law to knowingly distribute something that may (intentionally) damage hardware. Also, there's NOTHING that can damage anything you can play this on, on the disc. Let alone somehow the disc somehow damaging itself. That's ludicrous. It WILL damage the DVD and MAY damage your hardware. This is just stupid.
What is hilarious is the producer of this DVD READS ALOUD this warning and the full text of the subsequent FBI warning, then immediately goes into reading their own disclaimer.

Maybe we should come up with a label for warnings of ths sort. "Voodoo disclaimers", or something, perhaps?
